“Living the Ebony Life: E-Mails from the Plantation”

Call in number: (646) 381-4198

Our December radio show guest is Zondra Hughes author of “Living the Ebony Life: E-Mails from the Plantation” This candid book was difficult to put down. I purchased and completed it in two days.

Zondra will discuss her book “Living the Ebony Life: E-Mails from the Plantation.”

The book delivers a hilarious narrative, backed by authentic e-mails, memos, and grainy ‘surveillance’ photos, of the outrageous office politics that turned a dream job at the No. 1 magazine in Black America into a living nightmare.

I purchased the book and once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. It was a hoot!

I finished reading the book in two days and admit to highlighting many passages.

Zondra Hughes made her literary debut on the outrageous and over-the-top Wendy Williams smash hit, “Ritz Harper Goes to Hollywood!” (Pocket Books/Karen Hunter Publishing).

She is the editor of N’Digo, and a featured blogger for The Huffington Post and ChicagoNow.

Zondra Hughes earned a B.S. in Journalism from Rust College; and M.S. in journalism with honors from Iowa State University, where she was the first graduate student to investigate “The Effects of Daytime Television Talk Shows On Viewers,” and interned (undercover) at the Sally Jessy Raphael show to add credibility to her research.

Professional honors include Who’s Who in Black Chicago; Top Leaders in Business, (Chicago Sun-Times); 100 Women Making a Difference, (Today’s Chicago Woman); and most recently, one of the nation’s top media movers and shakers (Monarch Magazine).

Hughes is a member of The Author’s Guild and her passion is inspiring future authors. In her spare time, she studies entertainment law and digital publishing.

She Presented at the National Council of Negro Women, 25th Annual Family Reunion Day, (2010); Featured, Authors/Entrepreneurs Panel, National Association of Black Journalists 35th Annual Convention (2010); voted one of the “Top MoneySmart Radio” Books of 2009.

The author currently resides in Chicago, Illinois, and is penning her latest novel, The M.O.O.D. Lounge Diaries.
